For one thing, the F2s fuselage hangs from a completely new wing with two distinct airfoil shapes. An obvious discontinuity leads to a thinner airfoil inboard. Given the need to preserve noggin-to-wing-spar clearance, its a smart but necessary solution. Wings, Things Major aerodynamic tweaks have been made.

The airfoil is a Harry Riblett shape, giving modernized flow separation on the leading edge for a soft stall yet with good lift and drag performance. Pretty much the only metal parts are the landing gear legs, stainless firewalls, engine mounts, engines and hardware. Pricing You would have to ask.

The bulge in the back side of the firewall provides clearance for the oil tank. The airfoil and wing thickness for all Mustangs from the prototype NA-73 through the last P-51D-30NA produced had the same wing other than the altered kink at the root.
