This is counteracted by a bootful of opposite rudder, which generally coincides with its recovery, causing an even more violent swing in the other direction. I’m always amazed to hear the girlie announce on the PA, “…the arrival of Crud Airlines flight 402 from Karachi and all points East…” etc.

You’d be surprised at how many people in an airline hold neither a deep knowledge of obscure aircraft types nor a sense of humor. We were airline pilots with screwdrivers, just hoping to be more help than hindrance. The first day I was tasked with disconnecting a supercharger control pushrod at the firewall.

Conveniently for Pepsi, the aircraft has already left the factory with a white and blue scheme, so the Stinson was painted with the company’s logos on the front and rear portions of the fuselage and a bottle was painted on the rudder. Some parts were re-fabricated at Faribault, such as the firewall.
