AGL is important for drone pilots as the regular ceiling for drone flight is defined as 400 feet AGL. In contrast to a control tower, an FSS is not responsible for giving instructions or clearances to aircraft. CG Center of Gravity For any given body, the CG is the average position of the weight distribution of an object.

Weather factors for this trip included the always concerning combination of low ceilings and rough terrain over Pennsylvania combined with forecasts for strong, gusty wind. Although we deemed the ceiling adequate for the journey, pilots used a variety of tactics to manage it.

Precisely what the single-engine ceiling is, the team can’t say. “We We just fly the thing around at 1000 feet, so the ceiling, we don’t know. Nudging it back to center slid the ball a diameter the other way—trying to corral it in the middle was a bit pointless as it didn’t want to live there.
