We consider that reassuring when the weather becomes turbulent. Over the years we’ve flown a lot of aircraft with “aft-tending” centers of gravity—if you filled the seats, you were outside the aft CG limit, and the rear seats in six-place airplanes were unusable.

If youre visualizing tossing and turning, such as caused by turbulence, stop. Turbulence or gusts: Bumps from wind gusts or turbulence give an initial disturbance in pitch that induces phugoid. This disabled all flight controls, leaving the crew to maneuver the aircraft with engine thrust only. Thats completely different.

Somewhere over Pennsylvania a Cessna 208B Caravan with two pilots and the three passengers [was] going to a business meeting in the float-equipped airplane when they encountered clouds and turbulence. The flight descendedbecause its scary to fly inside cloudsand flew along a riverbed, at times below the surrounding trees and terrain.
