Someone claiming to be from Bankstown says the hangar gossip is that the engine failed because he ran out of fuel. From the video, it seems that the pilot kept the landing gear stowed, which I presume was in order to reduce drag. All I’m saying is that if the pilot was inexperienced, I’m more impressed, not less.

Each day, 12 students spent two hours in a fabrication hangar where they cut/folded/riveted a sheet of aluminum into a wing component. The Four Forces of Flight (Lift, Thrust, Drag & Gravity) obey Newton’s Three Laws of Motion. Young Aviators got students interested in aviation and STEM. Two hours were allocated to flying.
