Fuel switches cut off before deadly Air India 787 crash, says report

Fuel cutoff mid-climb Flight AI171, bound for London Gatwick (LGW), had departed Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (AMD) at 13:39 IST (08:09 UTC). According to the cockpit voice recorder, one of the pilots asked the other why the fuel was cut off. It was carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members.

As per ATC, the aircraft departed from Ahmedabad at 1339 IST (0809 UTC) from Runway 23. This has happened before, and we just recently looked at an action slip by the pilot flying , who accidentally reduced thrust on take-off. It gave a MAYDAY call to ATC, but thereafter no response was given by the aircraft to the calls made by ATC.
