Skyryse conducts world’s first automated helicopter set-down using app

Skyryse, a Californian-based developer of flight software applications, announced on February 5, 2025, that it has completed the worlds first fully automated set-down of a production helicopter using just the swipe of a finger on its SkyOS flight software app. The test follows seven years of the company developing the software that it hopes will eventually open up the possibilities of fully automated flight for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.

FAA Reducing Traffic At Reagan National Following Deadly Midair Collision

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) plans to reduce air traffic at Reagan Washington National Airport to address safety concerns following last weeks deadly midair collision between a regional jet and a Black Hawk helicopter, which claimed 67 lives. In an email obtained by Reuters , the FAA notified airlines it would be reducing the maximum arrival rate from 28 to 26 per hour which would enhance safety but also extend average delays from 40 to 50 minutes.
