Swiss startup H55 partners with Elfly to distribute electric aircraft

Swiss electric aviation startup H55, which is led by adventurer and entrepreneur Andr Borschberg, has entered a commercial partnership with Norwegian electric seaplane developer Elfly Group. The deal, which was announced on December 16, 2024, will see Elfly Group acquiring three units of the pioneering B23 Energic battery-electric aircraft (with options for two more units later on).

New French Aerobatic Trainer Gets EASA Certification

Aura Aero, based in Toulouse, France, announced this week it has received European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification for its Integral R model. The two-seat, side-by-side taildragger is constructed of what the company describes as wood/carbon hybrid materials. It is designed as an aerobatic trainer that can also serve as individual transportation, with a range of 530 nautical miles and a cruise speed of 150 knots.

FAA Postpones Medical Certification Changes

The FAA has backtracked on a policy change regarding medial denials and deferrals after facing backlash from the industry. Five days after receiving a letter from 14 pilot organizations, the agency says it has deferred implementation of the policy pending further consultation. Lufthansa Group purchases further 5 A350-1000s bringing total order to 15

The Lufthansa Group has announced that it has ordered an additional five A350-1000 aircraft, taking the total firm order for the next generation long-haul plane to fifteen. The group declared that the additional aircraft order should be delivered between 2028 and 2030. The total value of the order is valued to be around $2 billion at list price. In total, the Lufthansa Group has ordered 75 A350-900s and A350-1000s, with 28 already in scheduled service and 47 more to be delivered by 2031.

Wings Over Dallas: How Poor Systems Led to Mid-Air Collision

On the 12th of November 2022, a Bell P-63F Kingcobra fighter flew into a Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress bomber during the Wings Over Dallas airshow.
