The major Italian contractor, Leonardo , has warned that developing the sixth-generation fighter jet will cost more and take longer than anticipated. The Global Combat Air Programme fighter (GCAP), otherwise known by the British name "Tempest," is one of the most consequential sixth-generation fighter jets in development outside of the US Air Force's NGAD fighter.

In a surprise development on the fourth day of the Farnborough International Airshow 2024, Airbus has announced that Saudi Arabian low-cost airline flynas has signed an agreement for 90 neo-type aircraft. Airbus and flynas confirmed on July 25, 2024, that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been signed off during Farnborough Airshow for 75 A320neo family aircraft and 15 A330-900s.

Just over a week after Vertical Aerospace unveiled its new full-scale VX4 eVTOL prototype, the UK-based pioneer has confirmed that the aircraft has completed its first tethered piloted flight. The huge milestone was achieved late in the afternoon on July 25, 2024, at Cotswolds Airport (GBA) in England, with Vertical Aerospac e’s Chief Test Pilot, Justin Paines, at the controls.

Curtiss SB2C-5 Helldiver BuNo.83393, under long-term rebuild with the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum , made its first post-restoration flight from their facility in Granite Falls, Minnesota today. Well respected CAF Helldiver pilot, Ed Vesely, was at the controls for the initial test hop, which went smoothly according to those present.

Gulf Air, the flag carrier of Bahrain, has unveiled its plans to build a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Bahrain International Airport (BIA). According to the latest Gulf Air statement released on July 21, 2024, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain will build the MRO complex. It will house a more than 20,000 square meter temperature-controlled hangar, stores, workshops, and a dedicated tarmac.

Qatar Airways announced an order for 20 more Boeing 777-9 aircraft, which is set to be the largest and most fuel-efficient twin-engine jet. The order, which expands the Doha-based carrier’s 777X order book to nearly 100 airplanes, was announced on the second day of the Farnborough International Airshow 2024. Boeing said that Qatar Airways helped launch the 777X program and it now has on order 60 777-9 passenger airplanes.
