Special Light Sport (S-LSA) are factory-built aircraft that meet industry-developed consensus standards and not Federal Aviation regulations and are issued a Special Airworthiness Certificate. That’s a 915 iS-powered JMB Aircraft VL-3 European ultralight being cared for by the Lockwood team. There are also legacy LSAs.
