Sound · CRJ 200 ferry flight crash with 19 on board at Kathmandu from Fear of Landing It should have been a simple ferry flight, under 150 kilometres. They entered runway 02 and performed a backtrack to the threshold in order to use the full length of the runway. Except that it wasn’t operational.

Skidding across the field, the B-17 veered off the runway and crashed into another B-17. A young Art Lacey before the ferry flight. Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress 44-85790 is being prepared for the lift on top of the gas station. Upon landing, SAAF 1723 ran off the runway and collided with a brick building.

The drop zone at an airshow consists of concrete runways and taxiways, expanses of ground between the two that may contain ditches or drainage culverts, landing lights, directional signage, and other obstacles to avoid. In January 2017, it was cleared for a maintenance ferry flight from Frederick to Tulsa.
