As the airspeed decayed, the right yaw increased. The helicopter was at treetop height with an indicated airspeed of zero knots when the right yaw ceased.

We finally broke out on top into dazzling sunlight carrying about one inch of rime ice. This particular 172 normally cruised at 120 mph indicated airspeed, but with the ice it would barely do 90 mph and that required full throttle! It was also destroying the propellers air foils causing a loss of thrust.
