Flying in the clouds in a single engine airplane when the OAT is below freezing is not a good idea! The general prognosis indicated no icing in the clouds, no turbulence and a quartering headwind from the west resulting in a mere five knots of headwind component. The OAT immediately shot up to +5 degrees C. We were free!

Bad data caused by turbulence, turns, and other anomalies was discarded. All of our flying started early in the mornings before afternoon turbulence and storms. Phoenix Approach Control gave us a few delay vectors before turning us onto final approach. Pressure altitudes were converted to density altitude.
