Lockwood Aviation’s maintenance hangar probably sees more Rotax-powered aircraft than many other shops in the country. Before anything else, these are single-engine, unpressurized two-seat lightweights with a max gross weight of 1320 pounds. Poke around the typical LSA maintenance hangar and you’ll see broken pieces.

The owner I joined in partnership was the second owner of the Cherokee, and it was based right here, Widell says, gesturing to his spotless hangar at Twin Oaks. There were only five stall-related accidents, most on high density altitude takeoffs at or near gross weight. One of those followed an intersection takeoff.

Airtime inhabits a large hangar at the Tulsa Riverside Airport (KRVS) where newly imported CTs are prepped, and ongoing maintenance and upgrades are carried out for aircraft in the U.S. It was our completion center for our CF23 version of the aircraft, but it was a small hangar and warehouse.
