The G5000 STC yields the same flight deck that was standard in a new Citation X, Latitude, Longitude, Sovereign, and sister product (the Garmin G3000) in smaller Citation CJ3+ and M2 light jets. Compared to some of the ancient avionics in the flight decks of some older jets, the Avidyne Atlas is worlds ahead.

Some of them seem funny to us now, like the fact that most of our airplanes had no radios or, God forbid, transponders and ELTs, while other facets of the 1970s are tragic. When I became an airline pilot at the beginning of 1979, the training classes and flight decks were male only clubs.

With the F2, the rudder and vertical stabilizer are changed, with the rudder becoming a much smaller surface than before. You can sit there with full back stick, full aileron one way and full rudder the other, and its perfectly controllable. You might ask what happens with crosswind landings when you take away rudder authority.
