Developments in aircraft design and engine technology have allowed us to fly farther, faster, and carry more payload. The principle is the same whether the aircraft gets thrust from propellers or jet engines. A propeller forces air backward, while a jet engine ignites a mixture of air and fuel to generate hot gases that eject backward.

According to Skyryrse, SkyOS’ streamlined controls will improve safety and payload capacity while allowing first responders to cover more ground. The company is working to integrate it on Airbus’ H-125 and H-130, Cirrus’ SR22, and a few business jets. Twisting the joystick causes rotation, similar to pushing anti-torque pedals.

Another advantage of the counter-rotating props is the elimination of torque roll. This is the tendency to dig in the left tip float during takeoff while countering engine torque.
