This is used during the deicing process to prevent the wings or important parts of the aircraft from being frozen as they are critical for flying. Look at how lovely the weather was that morning. An Easyjet A321ceo aircraft was undergoing the deicing procedure. The view is certainly breathtaking especially in good weather.

When we reached our aircraft, we were the first batch to board so that gave me a chance to explore the cabin. At least when we started our descent, the weather was much better, descending and landing in smooth condition. We were flying in good weather at this point. This is due to convection. My seat: 1A, two windows for myself.
