While it wasn’t a particularly hot day, Big Bear’s density altitude was reported as 8,200 feet, resulting in a higher true airspeed compared to indicated airspeed. But the plane was now so slow that the increased angle of attack created by the lowered right aileron caused that wing to stall. Where is the wind? Am I high or low?

Depressions in the vertical stabilizer and rudder, as well as stabilator skins and ailerons, all help increase panel stiffness while allowing less under-skin structure. There were only five stall-related accidents, most on high density altitude takeoffs at or near gross weight. We found six runway overrun accidents.
