According to the Aviation Herald, the top of descent and initial approach phases were uneventful and routine with the aircraft beginning its descent into Molde at 18:39. However, the airline reported the aircraft went off the runway due to weather conditions, strong winds, and a slippery runway.

Participating airlines equip their aircraft with quick access recorders to harvest and regularly uplink detailed flight data. This one is for an unstable approach due to an excessive descent rate (1,232 ft/min). carriers over the last several decades.

If the airport is your home drome, and there is a big oak tree or a Walmart on final you can measure the distance from there to the threshold on a sunny day. Then as you fly over your designated landmark and see the threshold, you will know that you have the measured distance. Approach lighting systems are a known, published length.

A few minutes later, we heard the center controller clear a Trans Missouri Airlines commuter plane for the VOR Runway 30 approach to Jefferson City. It would also require a descent to 2,200 feet before crossing the outer marker. We were about 1/2 mile from the threshold. What was the freezing level? I didnt know.
