Failure To Deice Cited In Fatal Phenom 300 Crash

The pilot flying, who held an airline transport pilot certificate, was killed while several passengers were injured. The NTSBs final report noted that the aircraft had been removed from a heated hangar and refueled before sitting outside in freezing mist and snow for about 40 minutes without any deice or anti-ice treatment.

A Taylorcraft Reunion

The familiar yellow Taylorcraft is parked by a galvanized corrugated steel roof shed-style hangar. With the airplane up on blocks and tied down in the hangar, I sent Andrew a photo. Coordinating schedules and weather took almost six months. Bill was a pilot for Eastern Airlines and he wore a toupee. Bill would love this.
