This particular 172 normally cruised at 120 mph indicated airspeed, but with the ice it would barely do 90 mph and that required full throttle! But the prolonged operation at full throttle and reduced airspeed made a fuel stop at Kirksville, in Northern Missouri a necessity. What had happened? It was an interesting experience.
