We made a nice two ship formation landing on runway 8L and were directed to taxi to Deltas (TOC) ramp which is located mid-field. Still, crossing the adjacent parallel runway 8R, with a huge Airbus holding for us made me feel a tad uncomfortable, now I know how a bug must feel when it sees a windshield coming at him!

Because of this situation, I had to learn how to flight plan a flight of 1,120 nm up in the flight levels from Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania (KMPO), where the airplane is hangared, to Key West. We filed IFR and got our clearance in the usual way from ground control at Punta Gorda, then flew eastward to the uncontrolled Sebring, Florida airport.

It’s happened to us that we get a clearance, load the passengers, and start up. We finally get to the runway, but have to wait another 30 to 40 minutes with the engines burning 400 lb of fuel an hour.
