The Pitot-Static System: How It Works

If you’re in a modern, fancy airplane with glass primary flight displays instead of round dials, then it uses something called an Air Data Computer to show these readings. Since static pressure changes with altitude and weather, the static port provides a constant reading of the current atmospheric pressure.
